Linda's garden - Purity, Voodoo and Fragrances!

The Arum Lily or Zantedeschia  aethiopica  is seen as a symbol of purity

Whereas the Voodoo Lily or Dracunculus vulgaris looks rather sinister.  It is said to smell of rotten meat but it's only been open for 2 days so perhaps I have that experience to come.  It's a native of Greece and the Balkans but I bought it last spring at Bury's plant sale.

On the subject of smells, or rather fragrances, the Paeonies are glorious at the moment but I fear they won't last long in the heat.

An unexpected perfume is that of the small tree, the Moroccan Broom  or Argyrocytisus  battandieri.  The flowers have the scent of pineapple when they first open.

Best wishes

Linda
