Visits to Wisteria Cottage and the Brew House

On the first day of the SAGE Garden Fortnight, Rhona and I visited Grahame and Di in Wisteria Cottage.

The wild flowers and pond take centre stage as you enter the garden.

We walked through  two arches with wonderful smelling white climbing roses (neither of which I remembered to photograph!!)

The white/yellow/pink rose in the photo is in fact Wedding Day which is growing up a tree half way down the lawn; it is a delicate combination of flowers variously in white, white/pale pink and a soft apricot yellow ;  the apricot yellow flowers appear rather curiously to be slightly smaller than the other blooms.

We saw the vegetable and fruit area (including the rabbit and slug/sparrow damage) but with the exception of the kale which had apparently been eaten overnight and the carrots, everything was looking very healthy with a good crop of pears, strawberries and raspberries to come.

We finished our tour in the front garden which has always been one of my favourites in Amberley. As we were leaving Linda arrived for her visit.

Later in that day, I popped in to see Pam at the BrewHouse to admire her clematis, delphiniums and roses. The first rose is Souvenir du Dr Jamain  the second picture of a rose is of a wonderful spray on the wall before you get to Pam's gate.

Best wishes
