Lucy's Garden in Wisborough Green - visit by her sister Sarah and friend Lynne

My sister Lucy’s garden is in Wisborough Green and Lynne and I went along to see it a few days ago. There is an old brick privy which makes an attractive feature all surrounded with plants although it’s just a garden store and no longer used for the purpose it was built! Many years ago my brother in law Ken and his local Horticultural society used the privy as the main feature for a garden design for Chelsea and they won a gold medal.

The garden is largely rectangular with a patio at one end and a vegetable plot at the far end. The main feature is a long and south facing border which is full of delphiniums,
Peonies, Clematis, roses and perennials. To the right of the patio there is a large climbing Iceburg Rose intermingled with Clematis Etoile Rose.

There is a rectangular fish pond with a water feature (not pictured)

There are a variety of pots on the patio with a beautiful anagallis in full bloom alongside a large terracotta ball.

Clematis Prince Charles making a magnificent display on the south facing fence

Sweet Peas grown the traditional way and deliciously scented

At the bottom of the garden is a thriving vegetable garden with a small greenhouse full of salad crops and flowers.

This garden has developed over many years as my brother in law was born here and my sister and he will celebrate their Ruby wedding anniversary this year. I will ask her if we might have a Sage visit to see the garden perhaps next year when the restrictions have eased.

Best wishes to you all

Sarah
