Hello from Watersfield,
We are so lucky that we are able to live in the countryside and enjoy our gardens at such a difficult time.
The warm rays of the sun are bringing the garden to life and everyday there is so much popping up in the flower beds. I have been trying to rearrange my garden over the last two years, taking out plants that were brought without much thought, shrubs cut back and some taken out.
In the autumn of 2018 I planted three trees, Betula utilis jacquemontii ‘Snow Queen’ two of which had to be replaced after being damaged from the high winds we experienced last year. A new path has been built and two rose arches put in.
I am now gradually beginning to see my plan come to fruition.I am trying very hard not to be an impulsive plant buyer, I remind and repeat to myself the mantra “right place right plant” every time a new plant catalogue drops through the letter box or a gardening email offer pops up in my inbox.
Today we had much needed rainfall so as I couldn’t be in the garden I thought I would share a few of my favourite spring flowers with you all.
Sarah Raven Tulips - Tulip Purissima , Perennial Tulip Artist , Venetian collection
Anemone coronaria, Frilly Hellebours,Muscari latifolium, the paler ones had a lovely light fragrance.
My beautiful blousy tree peony, although the rain has battered them today.
Looking forward to our next SAGE get together whenever that may be.
Best wishes
Pam Malcolmson
