Pelham Plants visit

This week Rosemary, Rhona, Sarah, Pam and Mike visited Pelham Plants at Laughton near Lewis to familiarise ourselves with the garden and nursery in order to plan a visit there for SAGE membership next Summer.

We were warmly welcomed by Paul Seaborne who showed us around his interesting and beautiful garden and excellent collection of plants.

We were fortunate to have a lovely sunny Autumn day and there was plenty of interest with many plants in bloom including a wonderful range of Asters. Of particular note Aster Violet Queen and Aster Ivy Patterson.

Of seasonal beauty was a wonderful Malus ‘Gorgeous’ (Crab Apple Tree) with stunning red fruit.

An unusual plant was Plectranthus Zuluensis

The garden had been divided by use of Hornbeam hedges to provide shelter from strong winds and has a range of grasses to delight with movement, texture, structure, light and colour.

With the opportunity to purchase plants at the end of our tour we were delighted to drive home with our cars full of plants!

Best wishes

Sarah
